Changing Our Circle of Influence
When I worked in corporate America for 15 years, I always made sure that I was well prepared for meetings in the board room.  The board room represented the place where major decisions were discussed  by key stakeholders within the organization.  Growing up in the city of Chicago on the south side in Roseland, my parents would not allow me and my siblings to go near the corner where the neighborhood bully’s and gang leaders would meet and make decisions on illegal activity throughout the community.Today, I am so thankful that my parents prevented me from going to the wrong corners to get connected to the wrong people that could have forfeited my future destiny. As I reflect on my past and consider the present, I come to realize  that we may not necessarily go to the corner but we definitely are looking for the right circle of influence that will embrace us with acceptance, empower us with authority and elevate us with status and significance.
Jesus invites each of us to reconsider our current location of life and leave our personal corners of seeking popularity, power and prestige that can only mislead and misguide each of us to a dead end for missing our destiny of purpose in life. Jesus is calling on believers today to detach from the influences in our lives that cause each of us to blind our eyes to serve others or covers our ears from hearing the cries of those who are in need for better relationships, career’s, education, health care, and etc. When Jesus healed the man possessed by demons in Mark 5:19, he told him to go back home and extend his circle of influence by sharing what he had learned and experienced from Jesus. Before we can change the corner on our streets or the board rooms on our jobs or the ministries within our church, the Lord desires that we all go back home first and extend Jesus’ circle of influence with our families with the fruits of the spirit of love, peace, joy, kindness and hope.
In John 13:35, Jesus said, this how they will know that you are my disciples, when you have love one for another. Each of us are commanded by the Lord to enhance our circle of influence by extending the agape love of God to all of humanity. Be the circle of influence that changes our culture and communities with the compassion to help,  courage to lead  and commitment to stay the course of being faithful to the will of God.

Sincerely Yours
